BSL Communication Support Practitioner | Hearing Impairment Provision | Brent, North West London | £92.59–£97.50 per day PAYE
What happens when a deaf child has someone beside them who doesn't just understand their communication needs, but makes sure they are heard, included and able to take part?
For a hearing impaired pupil, meaningful communication can change everything. It can mean joining in with a lesson rather than watching from the sidelines, sharing a joke with classmates, understanding what is happening around them and developing the confidence to express themselves.
This is an opportunity to become that person.
If you have BSL skills, a patient and supportive approach, and a genuine interest in deaf education, this welcoming Brent primary school could be an excellent next step.
About the School
This inclusive mainstream primary school supports children aged 4 to 11 and has a dedicated Hearing Impairment Provision at the heart of its approach to inclusion.
Pupils are supported through a range of communication methods, including BSL, SSE, spoken English and written English. The school also supports children with a range of additional needs, including Autism, SEMH and Visual Impairment.
Deaf awareness is embedded throughout the school rather than being treated as a standalone initiative. You will work alongside an experienced specialist team and benefit from established systems, collaborative colleagues and ongoing professional support.

As a BSL Communication Support Practitioner, you will work across the specialist Hearing Impairment Provision and mainstream classrooms, helping pupils access learning, communicate confidently and participate fully in everyday school life.

Why This Role Matters
In a mainstream classroom, communication can easily become something a deaf child has to work harder to access.
Your role is to help change that.
Whether it is helping a pupil understand a lesson, follow a conversation, communicate with their peers or simply feel confident enough to put their hand up and contribute, your presence can make school feel more accessible and more connected.
This is more than classroom support. It is an opportunity to help children develop confidence, independence and a genuine sense of belonging.

If you have BSL skills and would like to build your experience within a specialist Hearing Impairment Provision, we'd love to hear from you.
