A welcoming mainstream primary school in North West London is looking for a BSL Communication Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 3–11 across both specialist and mainstream provision.
The school supports children with Autism, Speech, Language and Communication Needs and associated learning difficulties. BSL is embedded into everyday communication, giving you the opportunity to practise and develop your skills throughout the school day rather than using them occasionally.
You will work alongside experienced staff who share communication strategies and approaches, helping you build your confidence while developing your understanding of how BSL can support pupils with additional needs.
The role

Support pupils within the specialist provision and mainstream classrooms

Use BSL to reinforce instructions, classroom communication and learning

Provide focused 1:1 and small-group support where pupils require additional repetition and communication support

Work closely with teaching and support staff to maintain consistent communication approaches

Develop your BSL through regular use in the classroom

Work towards further BSL development, including Level 2 and beyond
Who we are looking for

Candidates with a Level 1 BSL qualification or those currently working towards Level 2

Psychology, Education, Drama or related graduates

Youth workers, learning mentors and other professionals with strong communication skills

Individuals with a genuine interest in Deaf awareness, BSL and inclusive education

Previous SEND or school experience is welcomed but is not essential
Most importantly, the school is looking for someone enthusiastic about communication, willing to learn and keen to build a career supporting children with additional needs.
