Do you have BSL Level 2 or above and a passion for supporting deaf children with their learning and communication needs?

We are actively seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant with BSL Level 2 to join a mainstream primary school in Brent with a specialist provision for pupils with hearing impairments.

 

About the school and provision

This inclusive primary school caters for children aged 4–11 and has a dedicated hearing impairment provision.

  • Pupils may have additional needs such as Autism, SEMH, or Visual Impairment.
  • The provision and wider school community use a multi-modal approach to communication, including BSL, SSE, and spoken and written English.
  • The school is committed to fostering inclusion and celebrating deaf awareness across the community.

Requirements

  • BSL Level 2 or training towards it
  • Confidence using BSL and supporting communication in a classroom setting
  • Passion for inclusion and supporting children with diverse needs
  • Previous experience in a deaf provision or mainstream school is highly desirable, but we also welcome applications from individuals with BSL Level 2 who are looking to begin their career in education
