Business Studies Teacher - Autism & SEMH
Mole Valley, Surrey
Full-time, term-time only, September 2026 start
£35,000 - £45,000 per annum
Have you seen what happens to a pupil's posture when a subject suddenly feels like it is about their own life, not just something to get through?
For a student who has been told, in a hundred small ways, that school is not built for them, understanding how money, work, and decisions actually function can be the first thing that feels genuinely theirs.
This SEN school in Mole Valley, Surrey, needs a Business Studies Teacher who wants to be the person who makes that happen.
About the Role
From September 2026, a Business Studies Teacher is needed to join a school supporting pupils aged 7 to 16 with Autism, ADHD, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Every pupil holds an EHCP.
About the School
Curriculum here is built around the pupil, not a fixed scheme of work. Staff read the room constantly and adjust. Academic progress and emotional well-being carry equal weight, and classes stay small enough that you will know exactly where each pupil stands, not just how they are behaving that day.
The Role
- Turn Business Studies into something tangible: running a small enterprise project, planning a budget, working out what a job actually pays and why
- Give pupils a subject they can point to as proof they understand something real about how the world works
- Adjust pace and pressure constantly, some pupils will need a concept broken into five steps, others will fly through it and need stretching
- Work alongside Teaching Assistants who know each pupil's triggers and strengths, and build your lessons around what they tell you
- Link classroom learning to future pathways, work experience, and the kind of independence pupils are working towards beyond school
What We're Looking For
Qualified Teacher Status is preferred, though candidates with strong Business Studies knowledge and relevant experience, but no formal teaching qualification, are also welcome to apply. What matters most here is patience under pressure and a genuine belief that this subject can change how a pupil sees their own future.
Salary and Hours
- Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum
- Start date: September 2026
- Contract: Permanent
- Hours: Full-time, term-time only
