Salary: NHS Band 4 Outer London (Term time salary - £23,325 - £25,189)
Contract: Academic year, Full-Time | Term Time Only - September start
As a Children’s Occupational Therapy Assistant, you’re always thinking about how best to support children with additional needs. You’re practical, nurturing and observant. Whether it’s preparing sensory equipment, supporting fine motor skill development, or noticing the smallest breakthrough in a child’s independence.
You’ve likely worked in schools, nurseries or therapy services, perhaps as a TA or support worker, and now you're ready for a more focused therapy role where your day-to-day efforts make a big impact.
This opportunity is within a specialist team that supports children and young people with a wide range of additional needs, including autism, sensory processing differences, and motor coordination challenges. You’ll work under the supervision of qualified Occupational Therapists, helping to deliver tailored intervention programmes across schools and community settings.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver 1:1 and small group activities to support therapy goals under OT supervision
- Use sensory strategies, movement breaks, and fine/gross motor exercises
- Prepare therapy resources and equipment for sessions
- Communicate progress and observations clearly to therapists and the wider team
- Assist with early assessments and help track the impact of interventions
Who We’re Looking For
- Someone with experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
- Comfortable following therapy programmes and using creativity to engage children
- A strong team player who is kind, reliable, and ready to learn
- Confident with communication, both written and verbal, with families and professionals
Bonus Points If You Have:
- A Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, Child Development or similar
- Knowledge of sensory processing needs or neurodiversity
- An interest in progressing toward a therapy-based career
