Citizenship Teacher - September

1 year maternity cover

Full time

Alternative Provision setting

Parker Smith Inclusion is supporting an alternative provision based in Tower Hamlets to find a fantastic, influential Citizenship Teacher starting from September. This is an inclusive secondary school that has students come to them at points of their secondary education, most likely due to being removed from mainstream from a breakdown, behavior issues, or internal struggles that affect their learning and the focus is to get them back on track by either returning to mainstream once feeling more positive or being supported up to Year 11 within their setting.

Being a Citizenship teacher, you will need to create inspiring and engaging lessons that challenge the students to achieve their full potential and open positive and stimulating conversations within the classroom.  You will be helping them understand how society works, voting, parliament, laws and justice systems as well as develop critical thinking and promote values and respect.

This type of teaching role within an SEMH setting would be influential and could impact the students decision for further life development, you will need to be a teacher that they can trust and feel comfortable with and that your classroom is a safe space for them to voice their opinions helping them become informed, respectful and active members of society. Could this be the role for you?

You will need to have.

  • QTS, QTLS or Level 5 in Diploma as Unqualified Teachers can be considered
  • Able to commit to a full time role that is for 1 year
  • Experience teaching students with SEND or SEMH needs
  • Experience within a PRU, SEMH and Alternative Provision is favoured
  • Able to stay calm in pressured situations
  • Fantastic communication skills
  • PGCE in Citizenship

Interviews are happening in the coming weeks . If you are interested, please apply to make sure you can be considered.

If this role isn't of interest but you're a Teacher looking for a new specialist role for September in East London, please call Elise @ PS Inclusion on 0203 011 4848.
