College Administrator - SEND College - Tower Hamlets

About the Role

This is not a traditional administration role.

As a College Administrator, you will play a vital role in creating and maintaining a professional, organised, and supportive learning environment where young people can thrive.

Many learners arrive with previous experiences of environments that lacked structure, consistency, organisation, or high expectations. We believe every learner deserves to be part of an environment that feels:

  • Safe
  • Calm
  • Structured
  • Predictable
  • Professional
  • Respectful
  • Aspirational

The College Administrator is central to ensuring these standards are experienced every day.

Your work supports the smooth and efficient operation of the college across reception, communication, administration, learner records, operational systems, and day-to-day organisation. Through your professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail, you help ensure that learners, families, staff, employers, visitors, and external professionals experience a college that is:

  • Organised
  • Welcoming
  • Responsive
  • Professional
  • Efficient
  • Well-managed

Key Responsibilities

You will support the effective operation of the college through:

  • Managing reception and visitor procedures
  • Responding to enquiries and maintaining professional communication with learners, families, staff, employers, and external agencies
  • Monitoring attendance and supporting safeguarding processes
  • Maintaining accurate learner records and documentation
  • Supporting management information systems and data accuracy
  • Administering qualification registrations and awarding body requirements
  • Coordinating administrative processes and operational systems
  • Organising meetings, communications, and college documentation
  • Supporting the smooth running of daily college activities
  • Ensuring administrative processes are completed accurately and efficiently

The Impact of the Role

Your work directly contributes to:

  • Positive learner experiences and operational consistency
  • Effective attendance monitoring and safeguarding procedures
  • Professional reception and visitor management
  • Accurate learner data and reporting
  • Effective administration of qualifications and examinations
  • Clear communication across the organisation
  • Well-organised and professionally maintained environments
  • Efficient operational systems and administrative coordination
  • The professionalism and reputation of the college

Why This Role Matters

This role is about far more than answering phones or completing administrative tasks.

It is about helping create an environment where systems work effectively, communication is clear, information is accurate, and people feel supported within a calm, organised, and professionally managed setting.

We believe high-quality learner experiences are built through:

  • Planning
  • Preparation
  • Structure
  • Consistency
  • Professionalism
  • Accountability
  • Clear communication
  • Calm and purposeful environments

The people working behind the scenes are just as important as those working directly with learners.

Your organisation, professionalism, reliability, communication skills, and attention to detail help shape the standards learners experience every day and contribute to a culture where young people can feel safe, supported, and ready to succeed.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking an individual who:

  • Has excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Communicates professionally and confidently with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Can manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively
  • Is proactive, reliable, and solution-focused
  • Has experience using management information systems and digital administration tools
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality, safeguarding, and professional boundaries
  • Takes pride in creating organised and welcoming environments

Experience within education, SEND, training, or youth-focused settings would be advantageous but is not essential.
