As an experienced Teaching Assistant, whether in mainstream or SEND, you want to make sure every child feels understood, included, and able to access learning confidently. Sometimes, however, the environment you work in can limit the impact you know you can have, this is a chance to change that.

Schools supporting deaf and hearing-impaired students understand how important communication is to every part of a young person’s education and wellbeing. The right support can completely transform a student’s confidence, independence, and experience of school.

The staff teams within these settings are welcoming, supportive, and passionate about creating truly inclusive environments. Leaders are approachable, hands-on, and committed to supporting both students and staff.

As a BSL Teaching Assistant, your role will be vital, you’ll support students throughout the school day using British Sign Language to help them access learning, communicate confidently, and build positive relationships with staff and peers.

Working closely with teachers and SEND professionals, you’ll help create an environment where students feel safe, included, and able to thrive.

The schools we work with are looking for individuals who:

  • Have BSL qualifications or signing experience.

  • Are patient, adaptable, and compassionate.

  • Understand the importance of inclusive communication.

  • Want to make a genuine difference within education.

Supporting students with additional needs requires patience, consistency, and kindness, but the impact you have will be lasting.
