Job Description:
We are looking for a Communication Support Worker with BSL Level 2 (or currently working towards it) to support children with hearing impairments in a welcoming mainstream primary school in Brent. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting communication and learning needs while developing their career in education.
About the School:
A fully inclusive primary school for children aged 4–11 with a dedicated Hearing Impairment Provision. The school uses a multi-modal approach including BSL, SSE, spoken and written English and supports pupils with a range of additional needs such as Autism, SEMH, or visual impairments. The environment is focused on inclusion, deaf awareness, and community.
Key Responsibilities:
Support pupils with hearing impairments across specialist and mainstream settings. Use BSL to support communication and learning in the classroom. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff as part of a skilled team. Contribute to deaf awareness activities, whole-school events, and staff development. Help create an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
Requirements:
BSL Level 2 qualification (minimum) or currently training towards it. Confident using BSL in classroom settings. Passionate about supporting children with additional needs. Previous school or provision experience is desirable but not essential – applications are welcome from those with BSL Level 2 looking to start a career in education.
