Complex Needs Teacher - Camden

Camden, Central London
M1–M6 Inner London
Full-time | Long-term

I am looking for a Complex Needs Teacher for a full-time position in Camden.

This role is suited to a teacher who understands that pupils with complex SEND may require learning to be highly personalised, practical and broken into much smaller stages.

You will need to be comfortable celebrating progress that might look very different from a mainstream classroom and working closely with support staff to make sure pupils receive a consistent approach throughout their day.

What will you be doing?

You will:

  • Plan highly differentiated and accessible lessons

  • Teach pupils with complex additional needs

  • Adapt activities around individual communication and developmental levels

  • Work closely with classroom support staff

  • Develop communication, independence and engagement

  • Monitor and record individual progress

  • Contribute towards individual outcomes and EHCP targets where appropriate

  • Maintain a structured and predictable classroom environment

Who am I looking for?

Essential:

  • QTS or equivalent

  • Strong understanding of differentiation

  • Confidence working with pupils requiring significant additional support

  • A patient and flexible teaching approach

  • Ability to work effectively with a classroom team

Desirable:

  • Complex needs experience

  • Special school experience

  • Experience with autism, SLD or PMLD

  • Experience supporting pupils with communication needs

Why consider this role?

Complex needs teaching offers something very different from a conventional classroom.

Progress can be gradual, but the opportunity to understand pupils individually and develop learning around their communication, independence and engagement can be incredibly meaningful.
