We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join a specialist all-through SEND provision. This is a unique opportunity to support pupils with profound and complex learning needs, helping them access education, build independence, and develop confidence in a safe and structured environment.
This is a temp-to-perm role, with the potential to transition into a permanent position after 24 weeks for the right candidate.
Who You Will Support
Many pupils in this setting have severe learning difficulties, autism, sensory processing needs, and associated medical requirements. Some may need personal care, and others may communicate through behaviour that challenges. Your role will be to provide consistent, compassionate, and structured support while promoting dignity, safety, and engagement at all times.
What You Will Do
-
Deliver tailored one-to-one and small group support
-
Assist pupils with complex learning, physical, sensory, and medical needs
-
Support personal care as required, with empathy and respect
-
Help pupils regulate emotions and de-escalate challenging behaviour using positive, trauma-informed strategies
-
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and multidisciplinary staff to create a supportive learning environment
The Difference You Could Make
With the right guidance and support, pupils with complex needs can achieve remarkable progress. You could be the person who helps a pupil engage in structured learning, feel secure, and develop independence, creating a lasting impact on their growth and wellbeing.
Who We Are Looking For
-
Experience supporting pupils with complex or additional needs, or a background in care or personal support
-
Confidence in supporting personal care and behaviour that challenges
-
Calm, patient, and empathetic approach, resilient under pressure
-
DBS or willingness to complete one (having a DBS on the update service is desirable but not essential)
What We Offer
-
Temp-to-perm pathway after 24 weeks
-
Ongoing CPD and specialist SEND training
-
Supportive leadership and a collaborative, multidisciplinary team
-
Opportunity to build a rewarding long-term career in SEND
-
The chance to make a real, positive impact on the lives of children and their families
