1:1 SEND Learning Support Assistant – Every Small Step Matters

Location: Havering
Pay: £90–£100 per day (PAYE)
Contract: Full-Time | Temp-to-Perm

Some children don't need someone to do the work for them. They need someone who believes in them, stays calm when they're struggling, and helps them find a way forward.

As a 1:1 SEND Learning Support Assistant, you'll work closely with a child who needs consistent, personalised support throughout the school day. You'll help them regulate emotions, build confidence, engage with learning, and celebrate the progress that others might overlook.

You'll be supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, adapting your approach to meet each child's unique strengths and challenges. Every day is different—but every day is an opportunity to make a genuine difference.

This isn't just classroom support. It's about building trust, creating stability, and helping a child succeed on their own terms.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
  • Helping pupils regulate emotions and manage challenging situations
  • Encouraging engagement with learning through patience and creativity
  • Working alongside teachers and SEND professionals to deliver consistent support
  • Celebrating every achievement, no matter how small

We're Looking For Someone Who

  • Remains calm, patient and resilient under pressure
  • Understands that behaviour is communication—not something to take personally
  • Can build positive, trusting relationships with children
  • Wants to make a meaningful, long-term impact on a young person's life
  • Brings empathy, consistency and a positive attitude to every day

Why Join This School?

  • A rewarding role where you'll see the impact of your work every day
  • Supportive staff and a collaborative SEND team
  • Opportunity to develop valuable SEND experience
  • Temp-to-perm pathway for the right candidate
  • Competitive PAYE pay with ongoing support from our team

The greatest successes in this role won't always be measured by grades. Sometimes they'll be a child walking into class with confidence, asking for help instead of giving up, or smiling because they finally feel understood.

If that sounds like the kind of difference you want to make, we'd love to hear from you.
