Complex Needs Teaching Assistant - PMLD / SEND | Camden
Camden, North West London | £95–£100 per day | Full-time only | Monday–Friday
This is a role where noticing the smallest things can make the biggest difference.
Parker Smith Inclusion is recruiting a full-time Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist SEND setting in Camden.
You could be supporting pupils with PMLD, SLD, autism, physical disabilities, communication difficulties or other complex additional needs.
The right person will be patient, observant and comfortable providing highly individual support throughout the school day.
What will you be doing?
Depending on the pupils you support, your role may include:
-
Providing individual learning and care support
-
Supporting pupils who communicate non-verbally
-
Helping pupils engage with sensory and practical learning activities
-
Encouraging communication, choice and independence
-
Supporting physical and mobility needs where required
-
Assisting with personal care where appropriate
-
Helping pupils regulate and remain comfortable throughout the day
-
Supporting transitions between activities
-
Working closely with teachers and the wider SEND team
-
Recognising and responding to subtle communication cues
What matters in this role?
You do not need to rush pupils.
You need to notice them.
For some pupils, progress may be communicated through a look, gesture, movement, sound or response that someone unfamiliar with them might miss.
Over time, you begin to understand what those signals mean and how best to support that individual pupil.
That relationship is at the heart of complex needs support.

Why consider complex needs education?
This is not simply classroom support.

For the right person, it can be incredibly rewarding work.
