Salary: £22,000 – £27,000 per annum (Outer London, pro rata, dependent on experience)

Are you a committed and supportive Teaching Assistant with a passion for working with young people who have special educational needs? A progressive SEN school in the London Borough of Havering is looking for a Post-16 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team from September 2025.
This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in the development of students aged 16 and over, helping them gain the confidence and skills they need for life beyond school.
The Role
As a Post-16 Teaching Assistant, you will support students with a range of additional needs including Autism, SEMH, and learning difficulties. Working closely with teachers and therapists, you will help deliver practical, life-skills-based education tailored to each student’s individual needs and education, health and care plans (EHCPs).
Key Responsibilities

Support students in developing key life skills including communication, functional literacy and numeracy, personal care, and travel training

Promote emotional well-being, confidence, and social development through a trauma-informed, person-centred approach

Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals to implement and review personalised learning plans

Monitor and support students' progress towards EHCP outcomes, adapting your approach to suit individual needs
What We Are Looking For

Previous experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs (Post-16 experience is desirable but not essential)

A compassionate, consistent, and proactive approach to learning support

A good understanding of autism, social and emotional mental health needs, and neurodiversity

Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a commitment to inclusive education
