KS5 Teaching Assistant | Construction Pathway | Croydon
£95–£110 per day PAYE | Monday–Thursday | 8:00am–4:00pm | September Start
Looking for a role where you can make a genuine impact while enjoying a four-day working week?
We're working with a specialist Post-16 SEND provision in Croydon that is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students within its KS5 Construction pathway.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys practical learning environments and is passionate about helping young people with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), Autism, and associated additional needs develop the skills and confidence they need for adult life.
The school follows a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach, placing relationships, consistency, and positive outcomes at the heart of everything they do. You'll work alongside experienced teaching staff and vocational tutors to support students as they access both classroom-based and practical construction learning.
The Role
-
Support students aged 16–19 within the KS5 Construction pathway
-
Assist learners during practical construction sessions and classroom-based learning
-
Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement and independence
-
Support students with SEMH, low-presenting Autism, and associated needs
-
Use therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches to promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
-
Work collaboratively with teachers, vocational tutors, and the wider multidisciplinary team
-
Help create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who has:
-
Experience supporting young people within KS5 or Post-16 education
-
Knowledge or experience of the Construction pathway or vocational learning environments
-
Experience supporting young people with SEMH, Autism, or additional needs
-
Confidence managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies
-
A reliable, resilient, and proactive approach
-
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with young people
-
A genuine passion for helping students prepare for employment, further education, and independent living
Why Join This School?
This specialist setting provides a supportive, therapeutic environment where young people are encouraged to develop academically, socially, and vocationally.
