Parker Smith Inclusion is a SEND specialist consultancy and I'm working in partnership with a unique creative SEND college in the heart of Tower Hamlets, boasting classrooms with panoramic views of the London skyline! It's a truly individual, unique setting which means they need staff that have these exact qualities.
Working as a Teaching Assistant in this setting requires you to be hands on with supporting the course leader, supporting the students by breaking down the lesson plan but still encouraging them to be independent. This setting encourages their differences and allows them to be completely themselves, giving them the opportunity to bring their creations to life and teaching them the skills of entrepreneurship by selling them in the on-site shop or social media platforms they've created!
The students in this setting all have an EHCP (Educational, Health Care Plan) displaying needs of autism, communication difficulties, cognitive delays, learning disabilities and social emotional needs but they require support from TAs that are calm, articulate, focused and coherent. A background or personal hobbies of art, design, fashion, technology is preferred!
With fantastic resources for students to bring their ideas to life you will need to be literate with technology, machinery, CAD design, measurements and overall tech savvy!!
