Creative Teaching Assistant – Graphic Design, Fashion & Business

Location: East London
Contract: Temp2Perm
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Start Date: To be confirmed

Are you a creative graduate looking to use your skills in a rewarding educational setting? Do you have a passion for design, fashion, business or the creative industries, and enjoy helping others develop their confidence and abilities?

We are working with a specialist college in East London to recruit enthusiastic and creative Teaching Assistants to support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who want to combine their creative interests with a career in education. You will be supporting students across practical, creative and vocational learning, helping them develop their skills, explore their interests and work towards future opportunities.

The Role

As a Creative Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teaching staff to support students throughout their learning. You will use your own creative knowledge and digital skills to encourage participation, build confidence and help students engage with their projects.

The college has a strong focus on creative careers and practical learning, giving students opportunities to develop their talents and build skills for the world of work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students during creative and vocational lessons, including Graphic Design, Fashion, Business and related subjects.
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging, practical and accessible learning activities.
  • Use your creative background to inspire students and encourage them to explore new ideas.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support, adapting your approach to meet individual learning needs.
  • Support students with digital projects, design tasks and the use of relevant software and technology.
  • Help learners develop practical skills, creativity, independence and confidence.
  • Encourage students to complete projects, develop portfolios and take pride in their work.
  • Support positive behaviour, engagement and participation throughout the college day.
  • Help create an inclusive, supportive and stimulating learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

To be considered for this opportunity, you will:

  • Hold a degree in Graphic Design, Fashion, Business or a related creative/design subject.

  • Ideally have a background in, or knowledge of, UAL qualifications and creative vocational courses.
  • Be tech-savvy and confident using computers, digital platforms and creative software.
  • Have a genuine interest in supporting young people with SEND.
  • Be creative, enthusiastic and confident sharing your knowledge with others.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be patient, adaptable and able to build positive relationships with students.
  • Be proactive and willing to support both practical and classroom-based learning.
  • Have a positive attitude and a genuine passion for helping young people reach their potential.

Experience working with young people or within an educational setting would be beneficial, but a relevant degree and a passion for supporting students are key.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to take your creative skills beyond the workplace and use them to make a genuine difference to young people.

Whether your background is in Graphic Design, Fashion, Business or another creative discipline, you will have the chance to share your knowledge, support practical learning and help students develop skills that could shape their futures.

If you are a creative graduate looking for a rewarding opportunity in education, we would love to hear from you.
