About the role:
As a Deputy SENCO, you will play a key role in supporting the provision for students with SEND, helping to ensure that every learner has access to a high-quality, inclusive education. Working closely with the SENCO and wider school staff, you will contribute to the identification, assessment, and ongoing support of students with additional needs. You will help to coordinate interventions, monitor student progress, liaise with families and external agencies, and provide guidance to colleagues to promote effective inclusive practice across the school. You will also work collaboratively with safeguarding colleagues to ensure that vulnerable students receive the support they need, recognising the close link between SEND, wellbeing, and safeguarding. Your work will be central to removing barriers to learning and enabling students to achieve their full potential.
Who this role will suit:
This role is ideal for an organised, compassionate, and proactive professional who is passionate about inclusive education and improving outcomes for students with SEND. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and external professionals. You will be confident in supporting staff, managing competing priorities, and contributing to the development of effective SEND provision.
Experience in safeguarding is highly desirable, particularly for candidates who have held the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), or who have worked closely within a safeguarding team. You will understand the importance of safeguarding in supporting vulnerable learners and be committed to promoting a safe, nurturing environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. If you are committed to ensuring that every student receives the support they need to succeed, we would love to hear from you.
