We are working with an exceptional specialist secondary school in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets to recruit a Digital Media Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team from September.
This is a unique opportunity to combine your passion for digital media, creative technology and education while supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to build confidence, develop employability skills and express themselves creatively.

The Role
Working alongside an experienced Media Lead Teacher, you'll support students in developing practical digital media skills through engaging, hands-on projects that inspire creativity while supporting emotional regulation and personal development.
Using technology as a therapeutic and vocational tool, you'll help pupils access learning through their interests, whether that's photography, gaming, podcasting, music production, graphic design or video editing.
No two days will be the same, and your creativity will play a huge part in helping students discover talents they never knew they had.
Your Responsibilities
- Support students with Digital Media, ICT and Creative Technology lessons.
- Break down complex software and creative projects into manageable, engaging learning activities.
- Support students using industry-standard creative software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Canva, GarageBand, Logic Pro, Blender and other digital media platforms.
- Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions using students' interests to build trust, engagement and confidence.
- Encourage independence by coaching students through challenges rather than completing tasks for them.
- Support projects including photography, podcasting, animation, graphic design, game art, video production and digital portfolios.
- Promote safe online behaviour and embed E-Safety throughout all learning activities.
- Help manage sensory needs, emotional regulation and technology-related frustrations using calm, trauma-informed approaches.
- Assist with showcasing students' work through exhibitions, newsletters, digital galleries and creative displays.
- Monitor safeguarding concerns and report appropriately using school safeguarding procedures.
- Maintain and care for specialist digital media equipment including cameras, microphones, drawing tablets, lighting equipment and other creative technologies.
We're Looking For Someone Who
- Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or a qualification in Digital Media, Creative Technologies, Graphic Design, Film or a related subject.
- Has experience supporting young people with SEMH, SEND, Autism or ADHD.
- Has experience working within a specialist school, PRU, Alternative Provision, Youth Setting or similar environment.
- Is confident using creative software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Canva, GarageBand, Logic Pro or similar.
- Has knowledge or experience of photography, animation, podcast production, game design or other digital media disciplines.
- Understands online safety, digital safeguarding and responsible use of technology.
- Is calm, patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships with young people who can present with challenging behaviour.
- Can motivate disengaged learners through creativity, encouragement and consistency.
- Has a genuine passion for digital culture, technology and helping young people succeed.
