Early Years SEND Learning Support Assistant

Location: Havering
Hours: Full Time | Term Time Only

Helping Young Children Discover the Joy of Learning

The early years are where everything begins. For some children, those first experiences of learning come with additional challenges — from communication and sensory differences to delays in social or emotional development. With the right support in place, those challenges can become stepping stones.

This Early Years Learning Support Assistant role gives you the opportunity to be part of that crucial beginning.

A Role That Truly Makes an Impact

You will be supporting young children with a range of SEND, including autism, early developmental delays, communication needs, and sensory processing differences. Your day-to-day support will help children feel safe, understood, and confident enough to explore their world.

Through structured routines, nurturing interactions, and play-led learning, you will help children develop early communication, emotional regulation, and independence skills that will support them for years to come.

Your Day Will Include:

  • Supporting learning through play-based, child-led activities

  • Encouraging early communication, social interaction, and self-expression

  • Supporting sensory needs and emotional regulation

  • Helping children develop independence with daily routines

  • Providing personal care where required, always with dignity and care

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a calm, nurturing environment

The Right Person for This Role

You may already have experience in Early Years or SEND, or you may be looking to develop your career in this area. What matters most is your approach. You are patient, warm, observant, and committed to helping children feel secure and valued.

You are comfortable supporting personal care and can remain calm, proactive, and positive when faced with challenging moments.

What This Setting Offers You

  • A specialist Early Years SEND role where progress is visible every day

  • Ongoing SEND-focused training and professional development

  • A supportive, child-centred team that values collaboration

  • A school community that celebrates every milestone, no matter how small
