Are you an experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with additional needs?
We are currently working with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Tower Hamlets who are looking for a caring, proactive and experienced Teaching Assistant to join their EYFS provision on a full-time basis.
The role will primarily involve supporting children with SEND within the EYFS setting, including pupils with SLD, MLD, non-verbal communication, cognitive delays and complex additional needs. Some children will also require intimate and personal care, so previous experience and confidence in this area is essential.
Alongside your SEND responsibilities, you will also be expected to support within the wider mainstream EYFS classroom. This makes the role ideal for someone who understands how to provide individualised support while also helping children access the wider curriculum and classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for children with a range of SEND
- Support pupils with SLD, MLD, non-verbal communication and cognitive delays
- Assist children with their communication, learning, social and emotional development
- Provide intimate and personal care where required
- Support children to develop independence and confidence
- Assist with structured SEND interventions and EYFS activities
- Support within the mainstream classroom when required
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team
- Help create a calm, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
- Adapt activities and communication approaches to meet individual needs
- Encourage children to participate in play-based learning and classroom routines
Experience & Skills
The school are looking for someone who has previous experience working within EYFS and/or supporting children with SEND.
Experience with the following would be highly desirable:
- Bucket Time
- Circle Time
- Phonics
- Now & Next boards
- Visual timetables and communication strategies
- Supporting non-verbal children
- Personal/intimate care
- Children with SLD, MLD or cognitive delays
- Early Years interventions and play-based learning
You must also hold Paediatric First Aid.
Most importantly, you will be a patient, nurturing and proactive individual who understands that every child develops differently. You will be confident supporting children who may require additional communication, sensory, physical and emotional support throughout the school day.
