English Teacher – ASC Specialist School

Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner, if available)
MPS – UPS + SEN Allowance (Outer London)

Are you an English teacher who believes communication is more than curriculum, and that every young person deserves to find their voice?

We are working with a highly respected specialist provision supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Condition who require a highly individualised, structured, and nurturing approach to learning.

This is an opportunity to join a setting where relationships, emotional regulation, and communication are at the centre of everything. Many learners have additional needs, including anxiety, sensory processing differences, and associated social, emotional and mental health needs. The school provides a calm, supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to re-engage with learning at a pace that works for them.

The Role

  • Teach English across KS3 and KS4
  • Plan and deliver highly differentiated and accessible lessons
  • Support learners with ASC and additional complex needs
  • Develop communication, literacy, and confidence in writing and reading
  • Use creative and flexible approaches to engage learners
  • Work closely with therapists, support staff, and wider multidisciplinary teams
  • Contribute to a safe, structured, and consistent learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds QTS/QTLS or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level
  • Strong understanding of ASC and associated learning needs (or willingness to develop)
  • Calm, consistent, and highly relational approach to behaviour and engagement
  • Ability to adapt teaching creatively to meet individual needs
  • Passion for inclusive education and improving life outcomes for vulnerable young people

Why Apply?

  • Small class sizes with high levels of support
  • Excellent CPD and ongoing specialist training
  • A highly supportive leadership team
  • A genuinely rewarding environment where progress is measured beyond academics
  • The opportunity to make a real, lasting difference to young people’s confidence and independence

If you are an English teacher who wants to work in a setting where patience, creativity, and relationships unlock real progress, we would love to hear from you.
