Are you a passionate English Teacher looking for an opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people who may have struggled within mainstream education?

We are working with an Alternative Provision in Enfield that supports secondary-aged pupils who require a more individualised and nurturing approach to education. The provision is looking for a resilient and engaging English Teacher who can build positive relationships with pupils and help them re-engage with learning.

You will be teaching English across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting pupils with varying academic abilities and additional needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who enjoys working creatively, adapting lessons and helping young people overcome barriers to education.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging KS3 and KS4 English lessons, including GCSE English.

• Differentiate lessons to meet pupils’ individual learning and additional needs.

• Build strong, positive and consistent relationships with pupils.

• Support young people to develop confidence, resilience and a positive attitude towards education.

• Manage behaviour effectively using a calm, consistent and restorative approach.

• Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.

• Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff and other professionals.

• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and contribute to a safe and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal English Teacher

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

• Has experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4, including GCSE.

• Ideally has experience within Alternative Provision, PRU, SEND or SEMH settings.

• Is confident supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour or have experienced barriers to education.

• Is patient, resilient, adaptable and able to build trusting relationships with young people.

• Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and inclusive education.
