The School:
Parker Smith Inclusion are working with an independant school in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets that has been newly refurbished boasting a brand new building a short walk from Liverpool Street or Whitechapel station. This school caters for children that are not able to access mainstream school due to being temporarily or permanently excluded and/or not able to be in a MS Setting due to SEN/SEMH needs and they are always taking on new referrals from the Borough.
The children learn functional skills but also have the opportunity to express their emotions through music with a sound proof music studio on site and all children have a apple computer to be able to work efficiently.
Overall this school is a fantastic, upcoming setting that is looking to support the children that have not had a great start out in life and want to get them on the right path for their future.
The Role
This exciting opportunity offers a dedicated individual the chance to shape the minds of young learners during their crucial secondary education journey. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and enriching English lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering a love for language and literature while equipping them with the skills they need to excel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate diverse and stimulating lessons aligned with the National Curriculum and catering to various learning styles and abilities.
- Develop a love for subjects you teach by using and creating resources.
- Cultivate critical thinking and analytical skills through engaging discussions, debates, and written analysis exercises.
- Craft effective assessments that accurately measure student progress and guide their learning journey.
- Prepare students for GCSE English Language and Literature examinations.
- Lead or contribute to school-wide initiatives promoting literacy and the enjoyment of English.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the English department and across other subjects.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay abreast of best practices and curriculum changes.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, and guardians, fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Maintain accurate records and reports as necessary.
- Teaching PSHE and occasional cover lessons
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with English specialism.
- Minimum 2 years' experience teaching English in a secondary school setting.
- Experience teaching GCSE English Language and Literature (desirable).
Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR): Available for the right candidate. (£2000-£5000)
