Specialist SEND Learning Support Assistant

Hutton, Brentwood | Full Time | ASAP / September 2026

More than just 1:1 support.

Some children need more than someone sitting beside them in the classroom. They need someone who understands their communication, behaviour and how they experience the world.

Could you be the person who helps them feel safe, understood and able to learn?

Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a small, welcoming primary school in Hutton looking for experienced Learning Support Assistants to provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with complex additional needs.

There are two opportunities available, with one role available to start ASAP.

About the Role

You’ll provide dedicated 1:1 SEND support, helping pupils access learning, communicate and feel safe and settled throughout the school day.

The pupils have needs including ASC, GDD, communication difficulties and significant sensory and behavioural needs.

Your role could include:

  • Providing consistent 1:1 support

  • Supporting communication and interaction

  • Helping pupils access classroom activities and learning

  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour

  • Encouraging independence and confidence

  • Following individual support and behaviour strategies

  • Supporting pupils who may display challenging or unsafe behaviours

  • Providing personal care where required

  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team

These are roles where hands-on experience really matters. The school is looking for someone who understands that every pupil is different and can adapt their approach to meet their individual needs.

About You

We’re looking for someone with hands-on experience supporting children with complex SEND, particularly experience with:

  • ASC / Autism

  • Non-verbal or minimally verbal children

  • Communication needs

  • Challenging behaviour

  • Personal care

  • Sensory needs

  • 1:1 SEND support

You’ll need to be calm, patient, consistent and resilient, with the ability to stay composed when situations become challenging.

Most importantly, you need to genuinely want to understand the child rather than simply manage their behaviour.

About the School

You’ll be joining a small, one-form-entry primary school with a close-knit team and a strong focus on inclusion.

The school is looking for people who can become a consistent and trusted part of the pupils’ daily support, helping them develop their communication, independence and confidence.

Parking is available.

What’s on Offer?

  • Full-time 1:1 SEND support role

  • ASAP and September starts available

  • Long-term opportunities

  • Supportive school environment

  • Opportunity to build valuable complex SEND experience

  • £100–£110 per day PAYE

If you have genuine hands-on experience supporting children with complex SEND needs and are looking for a role where your experience can make a real difference, apply today or speak with Danny at Parker Smith Inclusion.
