Support That Truly Changes Outcomes

We are working on behalf of a supportive secondary school in Havering to recruit an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant. This role requires someone who has already worked with young people with additional needs and understands the challenges and rewards of supporting students within a secondary school environment.

You will work with students who have a range of SEND needs, including autism, social emotional mental health needs, and communication differences. Your experience will be key in helping students access learning, manage behaviour, and build confidence during an important stage of their education.

The Role

  • Provide in class and small group support for students with SEND

  • Support students with behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement

  • Help young people manage transitions and routines throughout the school day

  • Promote independence, resilience, and positive relationships

  • Work closely with teachers and the SEND team to deliver consistent support

  • Observe, record, and share progress to support individual plans

The Right Person

  • Confident managing behaviour in a calm and professional manner

  • Strong understanding of autism, SEMH, and communication needs

  • Patient, resilient, and emotionally intelligent

  • Committed to inclusive education and student wellbeing
