There is a lovely opportunity coming up in a Thurrock school where the EYFS team really make the most of those first years of school.
It is the kind of environment where children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, get things wrong, try again and discover things for themselves. There is lots going on, both inside and outside the classroom, and the adults are genuinely involved in the children's learning rather than simply watching from the sidelines.
You could be building a den in the morning, helping a child finally recognise their sounds, joining in with a story, getting stuck into messy play or heading outside because someone has just discovered something that absolutely cannot wait.
That is the fun of EYFS.
The school wants someone who will throw themselves into it. You will need some experience of working with young children and a good understanding of EYFS, but personality matters too. They want someone warm, energetic and patient who can build relationships quickly and who isn't afraid to get involved. Someone who can laugh with the children. Someone who notices the little things. Someone who understands that a five minute conversation about a worm can sometimes be more important than whatever was planned for that part of the morning.
And someone who wants to become part of a team rather than simply turn up, do the hours and leave.
The role is temporary initially with a genuine opportunity to become permanent, so it could be ideal if you are looking for a September start but ultimately want somewhere to settle.
