Do you have a qualification within EYFS/Childcare?
Would you be confident to support children that have special needs?
Parker Smith Inclusion are working in partnership with a MS Primary school based in East Ham, this is a small 2 form entry school that have a nursery on site and they are receiving new referrals throughout the academic year.
They are looking for a TA that can support a young child with down syndrome within the nursery, your day will consist of working 1:1 with the child supporting them with early years learning such as; phonics, bucket time, picture communication cards, sensory learning and learning through play (messy/water play) .
You will need to be an energetic, creative person with lots of personality to be playful with the child and understand that they will be looking to you as their immediate support in any scenario.
Duties:
Supporting Teaching & Learning
- Support the class teacher in delivering the EYFS curriculum
- Work with individual children and small groups to reinforce learning
- Support early literacy, numeracy and communication development
- Help plan and set up engaging, play-based learning activities
- Observe children’s learning and development and share feedback with the teacher
Play & Learning Environment
- Prepare and maintain a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment
- Set up indoor and outdoor play areas and learning stations
- Support learning through structured and free play
- Ensure resources are clean, safe and accessible
Behaviour, Wellbeing & Regulation
- Implement positive behaviour support plans and de-escalation strategies
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, sensory needs and anxiety
- Use trauma-informed and child-centred approaches
- Promote pupils’ wellbeing, self-esteem and engagement
- Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
Health, Safety & Care
- Support personal care routines where required with dignity and respect
- Follow care plans, risk assessments and medical protocols
- Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all pupils
