Early Years SEND Teaching Assistant
Specialising in Autism & Complex Needs
Mainstream Primary – Additional Resourced Provision (ARP)
Location: London
Contract: Temp to Perm Opportunity
Pay: £90–£100 per day (PAYE)
“The early years are where everything begins — especially for children who experience the world differently.”
A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in London is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Early Years SEND Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated Additional Resourced Provision (ARP) — a space designed to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and complex needs.
This is more than just a job; it’s a chance to shape a child’s experience of school from their very first days. The ARP provides a calm, structured and nurturing environment with a strong focus on early communication, emotional regulation and cognitive development — all tailored to each child’s individual journey.
What this role involves:
-
Supporting reception-aged pupils within a purpose-built ARP
-
Delivering and adapting a personalised Early Years curriculum
-
Encouraging social interaction, play and exploration in safe, supported ways
-
Supporting early language development, using visuals, objects of reference and sensory resources
-
Building warm, trusting relationships that help children feel safe, seen and understood
-
Working closely with teachers, therapists and families to provide consistent, joined-up care
We would love to hear from you if:
-
You have experience supporting children with SEND — though this isn’t essential
-
You’ve worked in Early Years or nursery settings and are keen to move into SEND
-
You’ve supported a child or family member with autism and want to bring that insight into a professional role
-
You are patient, empathetic and ready to learn — with a calm and grounded approach to behaviour
-
You’re exploring a future in SEND education, therapy, or early years development
This could be your chance to make a meaningful start — or grow deeper into a career with real impact.
