A specialist education setting in Hillingdon is looking for a Food Tech Teacher to deliver practical, engaging lessons to young people with SEMH needs.

For pupils who have struggled in traditional education, practical subjects can provide a different route into learning — building confidence, independence and a real sense of achievement.

About the Role

You will teach Food Technology across practical cooking, food preparation and relevant theory, adapting your approach to meet the individual needs of your pupils.

You will:

• Plan and deliver engaging Food Tech lessons

• Deliver practical cooking and food preparation sessions

• Adapt learning to different abilities and needs

• Promote positive behaviour and high expectations

• Assess and monitor pupil progress

• Build positive relationships with pupils

• Create a safe, structured and inclusive classroom

• Work closely with pastoral and support staff

• Contribute to EHCP reviews and pupil progress where required

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for a Food Tech Teacher who can create structure while building genuine relationships with pupils.

You will be:

• A qualified teacher with strong Food Technology knowledge

• Patient, resilient and consistent

• Confident managing challenging behaviour

• Creative and adaptable in your teaching

• Able to maintain high expectations while showing empathy

• Passionate about helping young people make progress

Experience in SEMH, SEN, alternative provision or specialist education is desirable, but mainstream Food Tech Teachers with strong behaviour management skills are also encouraged to apply.
