Pupil Referral Unit | Hackney
April 2026

Could your classroom be the place a young person starts believing in themselves again?

We are working with a nurturing and supportive Pupil Referral Unit in Hackney seeking a passionate Food Technology Teacher to join their team.

This specialist setting supports students who have struggled to thrive in mainstream education due to social, emotional, behavioural, or personal challenges. The school is committed to helping young people rebuild confidence, re-engage with learning, and gain the skills and qualifications needed for their future.

Food Technology plays a key role within the curriculum, giving students the opportunity to develop practical life skills, creativity, independence, and confidence through hands-on learning.

The Role

  • Teach Food Technology up to GCSE level
  • Deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons
  • Adapt learning to meet the needs of vulnerable and disengaged learners
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
  • Support students’ personal development alongside academic progress
  • Work collaboratively with staff, families, and external professionals

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Has experience teaching Food Technology to GCSE level
  • Is passionate about practical, creative learning
  • Can build positive relationships with students
  • Has strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • Is committed to helping every young person succeed

Why Apply?

  • Small class sizes and meaningful student relationships
  • Supportive leadership and therapeutic approach
  • Opportunity to make a genuine difference every day
  • A rewarding role within a highly specialist setting
  • Excellent experience for teachers interested in SEND and SEMH education

If this opportunity sounds like the right next step for you, please apply to this advert or contact Katie at Parker Smith Inclusion on 0203 011 4848.
