A specialist SEND school in Hillingdon is looking for a Food Technology Teacher to join its SEMH provision from September 2026.

This is an opportunity to teach a practical subject in a setting where relationships, individual progress and personal development are just as important as academic outcomes.

The setting

The school supports young people aged 11–19 with SEND, with a particular focus on SEMH alongside Autism and associated learning needs.

Pupils benefit from a structured and supportive environment, with personalised learning, pastoral support and a strong focus on emotional wellbeing, resilience and independence.

The aim is to help each young person overcome barriers to learning and develop the skills they need for their next steps.

The role

As a Food Technology Teacher, you will:

Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons
Teach practical cooking, nutrition and food safety
Adapt lessons to meet individual SEND and SEMH needs
Create a calm and positive learning environment
Build strong relationships with pupils
Encourage confidence, independence and resilience
Monitor and assess pupil progress
Maintain high expectations for learning and behaviour
Support pupils to develop practical life skills
Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral colleagues

Who we are looking for

This role would suit a qualified teacher with QTS and experience teaching Food Technology, Food Preparation or a related subject.

Experience within SEMH, SEND, special education or alternative provision would be beneficial, but the right mainstream teacher with strong classroom practice will also be considered.
