An innovative specialist college that empowers their students through creativity has a rare opportunity for a Functional Skills Teacher starting in September. You will be supporting independent young learners with autism aged 16 to 25 gain their Level 1-3 qualifications and be dedicated to delivering an inclusive and vocational education. This specialist setting prides themselves on a creative curriculum, focusing on delivering lessons such as Design, Digital Business, Creative Media, Music and Employability skills. They provide their learners with a fantastic tech-savvy environment and endless resources that support their artistic desires. You will be the catalyst for preparing the learners for real-world opportunities by developing their confidence, independence and practical skills that will equip them to achieve recognised qualifications.
Delivering Functional Skills
- Teach core English skills, including reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, and communication.
- Teach core Maths skills, including number, measurement, data handling, and problem-solving.
- Assess learners’ starting points through initial and diagnostic assessments.
- Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet individual learner needs and abilities.
- Prepare learners for Functional Skills examinations and assessments.
- Monitor learner progress and provide regular feedback and support.
