Are you a recent graduate passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND? An outstanding specialist school in Enfield is seeking a dedicated Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive and experienced team from September, with the opportunity to move from temporary to permanent employment.
The school supports pupils from Early Years through to Key Stage 3, with a range of complex needs including ASC, SEMH, MLD, SLD, ADHD, and speech and language needs. As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping pupils access their education, develop their independence and build confidence in their abilities. You will provide individualised support throughout the school day and may also be required to assist with personal care when necessary.
The school takes a highly personalised approach to education, creating a fun, engaging and nurturing environment where every pupil is encouraged to thrive. Alongside academic learning, students benefit from a varied curriculum including swimming, music lessons and yoga, supporting the development of communication, confidence, social skills and independence.
With class sizes of just 10–12 pupils, students receive a high level of individual attention and support. Each class is staffed by an experienced team of around five members of staff, including a qualified Teacher, HLTA and three SEND Teaching Assistants. This provides an excellent environment for a graduate looking to develop their understanding and experience of specialist education while working alongside knowledgeable SEND professionals.
The school has multiple campuses covering Early Years through to Post-16, offering fantastic opportunities for those looking to build a long-term career within education and SEND. There are progression routes available into HLTA positions, teacher training and specialist therapeutic roles, alongside a comprehensive training programme designed to support your continued professional development.
The position is Monday to Friday, 8:00am–3:30pm, with 8:30am–5:00pm every other Wednesday to allow staff to take part in the school's dedicated training and development programme. The role is offered on a temp-to-permanent basis, making this an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking for strong earning potential alongside genuine long-term career progression.
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND would be beneficial, although the school is also keen to hear from graduates who are passionate about entering the sector and developing a career in specialist education. The role could be particularly well suited to graduates considering careers in Educational, Clinical or Child Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Teaching or other SEND-related professions, providing valuable practical experience supporting pupils with complex needs.
