Graduate SEND Teaching Assistant – Psychology, Therapy & Education

Barnet | £95–£110 per day | Full-time

Finished university and wondering how to turn your degree into meaningful experience?

A SEND classroom can give you practical experience that theory alone cannot.

Parker Smith Inclusion is recruiting a Graduate SEND Teaching Assistant to work full-time within a specialist education setting in Camden.

This role could be particularly valuable if you are considering a future career within psychology, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, teaching or another child-focused profession.

What experience could you gain?

You will work directly with children or young people with additional needs and develop your understanding of:

  • Autism and neurodiversity

  • Communication and interaction

  • Emotional regulation

  • Behaviour as communication

  • Individualised learning

  • Social development

  • Supporting independence

  • Working within a multidisciplinary environment

You will not simply observe.

You will become an active part of the classroom team and be expected to support pupils consistently throughout the school day.

Who should apply?

We would particularly like to hear from graduates in areas such as:

  • Psychology

  • Childhood Studies

  • Education

  • Criminology

  • Sociology

  • Health and Social Care

  • Speech and Language-related subjects

Previous experience working with children or young people through tutoring, mentoring, volunteering, care, camps or schools would be strongly desirable.

Where could this lead?

This type of role can be particularly useful for people considering careers including:

  • Educational Psychology

  • Clinical Psychology

  • Speech and Language Therapy

  • Occupational Therapy

  • SEND Teaching

  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health

  • Specialist education

More than CV experience

You will gain a realistic understanding of SEND education.

That includes the rewarding progress, but also the patience, consistency and resilience required when development happens gradually.

For the right graduate, that experience can be extremely valuable when deciding where to take your career next.

Pay: £95–£110 per day, depending on experience.
