Graduate SEND Teaching Assistant – Psychology / Aspiring Therapist

Camden | £95–£100 per day | Full-time

If you are considering a future career in psychology, therapy, teaching or child development, a SEND classroom can give you the practical experience that a degree alone cannot.

Parker Smith Inclusion is recruiting a Graduate SEND Teaching Assistant to work full-time within a specialist education setting in Camden.

You will gain direct experience supporting children or young people with additional needs while learning how communication, behaviour, emotional regulation and learning difficulties can affect a pupil's experience of school.

What could you gain experience in?

  • Autism and neurodiversity

  • Communication and interaction

  • Emotional regulation

  • Behaviour as communication

  • Individualised learning

  • Social development

  • Supporting independence

  • Working alongside SEND professionals

You will be expected to become an active member of the classroom team rather than simply observe.

Who should apply?

We are particularly interested in graduates from backgrounds such as:

  • Psychology

  • Childhood Studies

  • Education

  • Criminology

  • Sociology

  • Health and Social Care

  • Speech and Language-related subjects

Previous experience with children or young people through volunteering, tutoring, mentoring, care, camps, or schools would be strongly desirable.

Where could this lead?

  • Educational Psychology

  • Clinical Psychology

  • Speech and Language Therapy

  • Occupational Therapy

  • SEND Teaching

  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health

  • Specialist education

You will gain practical experience in supporting pupils directly rather than relying solely on academic theory.
