Graduate SEND Teaching Assistant (TA)
- Location: Hillingdon, West London
- Start Date: ASAP or January 2025
- Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Are you a psychology graduate who’s not just book-smart, but heart-smart?
Do you have a wickedly good sense of humour, a resilient spirit, and a deep well of empathy?
If you’re creative, patient, and passionate about working with children and young people with SEND, we want you to join our team.
What you will be doing:
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, your role will be much more than “helping out.” You’ll be central to creating moments of growth, joy, and connection.
- You’ll help deliver personalised learning plans, working closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
- You’ll bring your people‑skills and academic background to build trusting relationships, support emotional regulation, and foster positive communication.
- You’ll get stuck into creative, real‑world learning: gardening, life skills, sensory work, therapy-led activities, and more.
- You’ll be part of a community that values humour, resilience, and kindness — supporting pupils emotionally as much as academically.
What we need from you
- Have a psychology degree (or similar) — you know what makes people tick, and you’re curious about emotional wellbeing
- Have a thick skin — you’re ready for the challenging, unpredictable, and sometimes messy, but always rewarding work of SEND
- Can laugh (often) — you bring warmth, wit, and a sense of fun to your day-to-day
- Are deeply empathetic and kind — you genuinely care about pupils’ emotional and social growth
- Are creative — you enjoy making learning accessible, meaningful, and sensory-rich
- Are resilient, patient, and adaptable — you’re ready to adjust, learn, and grow as part of a multidisciplinary team
What You’ll Gain
- A rewarding career start in a highly respected special school
- Experience working alongside teachers, OT, SALT, and therapy teams
- Insight into a bespoke SEND curriculum and real-world learning in a life‑skills flat, sensory areas, and more
- Professional development and a pathway to grow (e.g. to TA Specialist or HLTA)
- The chance to make a tangible difference — helping students build confidence, independence, and joy
Our Values (Why They Matter)
- We champion emotional wellbeing and self-regulation. Every student’s voice is heard and respected.
- We believe in ambitious, tailored learning. Our curriculum is designed around each pupil’s unique needs and potential.
- We are connected to our community. Families, staff, and pupils all grow together, sharing in a safe, inclusive environment.
- We celebrate independence, resilience, and real-life readiness — so students can thrive beyond school.
If you're ready to bring your psychology insight, your humour, and your compassionate heart into a SEND setting where every day matters, we would love to hear from you.
