Health and Social Care Teacher – Secondary SEMH

Location: Newham
Contract Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday (8:30am – 4:30pm)

About the Role:
Parker Smith Inclusion are seeking a dedicated and passionate Health and Social Care Teacher to join a specialist secondary setting for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and additional Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a full-time position with an immediate start.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in Health and Social Care to secondary-aged students, supporting them to achieve their full potential both academically and personally. You will work within a supportive team that is committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive, and therapeutic learning environment.

This is a new subject for the students that they have requested, therefore it will be 3 sessions a week of Health & Social care and then if possible another creative subject alongside such as Food Technology. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver creative, accessible, and inspiring Health and Social Care lessons for KS3 and KS4 pupils.
  • Differentiate learning to meet the diverse needs of pupils with SEMH and SEN.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support their emotional wellbeing and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral staff to provide holistic support.
  • Assess, track, and record pupil progress in line with school policies.
  • Contribute to a safe, respectful, and caring school environment where every student can thrive.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
  • Experience teaching secondary-aged pupils with SEMH and/or SEN – essential.
  • Strong classroom management skills and a nurturing, resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
