Are you an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference?

We are working with a highly regarded specialist SEND school in Enfield that is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their KS3 Complex Needs provision from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a supportive and collaborative team, working with pupils with Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties, communication needs and a range of complex additional needs. The school is committed to providing outstanding support for both its pupils and staff, creating an environment where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

The Opportunity

What makes this role stand out is the exceptional level of support available within every classroom. Each class benefits from a Teacher, Higher Level Teaching Assistant and three SEN Teaching Assistants, allowing staff to work collaboratively and provide a highly personalised approach to learning.

As a HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning while helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading lessons and covering classes in the teacher's absence
  • Delivering targeted interventions and small group learning sessions
  • Supporting pupils with complex learning, communication and sensory needs
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and support staff to achieve positive outcomes
  • Encouraging independence, communication and social development
  • Supporting the delivery of EHCP targets and personalised learning programmes
  • Creating a positive and engaging learning environment where every pupil can thrive

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about SEND and committed to helping young people reach their full potential.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant
  • A HLTA qualification or significant experience in a similar role
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly Autism and complex needs
  • Confidence leading learning and managing a class when required
  • A proactive, resilient and positive approach
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Why Apply?

  • Join a highly supportive specialist SEND setting
  • Work within a well-resourced classroom alongside a Teacher and three SEN Teaching Assistants
  • Access ongoing training and professional development opportunities
  • Be part of a collaborative team that genuinely values its staff
  • Secure a long-term position with the potential to become permanent
  • Make a lasting difference to the lives of young people with complex additional needs

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HLTA looking to further their career within specialist education and work in a setting where relationships, teamwork and pupil progress are at the heart of everything they do.
