You’ve built strong experience supporting children with additional needs, now you’re ready for a role where you can lead learning, support staff, and take on more responsibility within a specialist setting.
This SEND school in Newham supports students aged 5–15 with autism, severe learning difficulties, and complex needs. Learning is highly personalised, with a strong focus on sensory-based approaches and communication support.
The Role
As a HLTA, you’ll support classes across the school, lead learning activities, and deliver sensory-led interventions tailored to students working across EYFS to KS2 pathways.
You’ll also help guide Teaching Assistants within the classroom, ensuring students receive consistent, high-quality support.
The role involves supporting students who may be non-verbal, use AAC devices or core boards, and need support with sensory regulation and communication.
Who This Role Suits

Experienced SEND Teaching Assistants ready for the next step

Existing HLTAs with specialist school experience

Experience supporting autism, complex needs, and dysregulated behaviour

Knowledge of sensory circuits, bucket time, AAC, or communication strategies

HLTA qualification desirable but not essential
Most importantly, you are calm, adaptable, and passionate about supporting children with complex needs.
