HLTA – SEMH Primary
Alternative Provision – Enfield
Full time | Temp to Perm
Working as a HLTA in a primary setting, your days are driven by purpose. You already understand that relationships are at the heart of learning. You know that some children need more than what a mainstream classroom can realistically offer. Large class sizes, competing demands and limited time can make it hard to truly support the children who need consistency, patience and understanding the most.
Perhaps you are ready for a role where your impact is visible every single day.
We are working with a specialist SEMH and ASC provision who are seeking a compassionate, grounded and resilient HLTA to join their primary setting. This is a school designed for children who have found mainstream education overwhelming, unsuitable or emotionally unsafe. Pupils who require adults who see beyond behaviour and focus on the child underneath.
This setting offers small class sizes of up to eight pupils, allowing you to build strong, meaningful relationships. You will support learning across the curriculum, deliver targeted interventions, and confidently lead learning in the absence of the teacher. Progress here is not just academic, but emotional, social and personal. Every achievement matters.
As a HLTA, you will play a key role in providing structure, stability and encouragement. You will work closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to support pupils whose needs include SEMH and ASC. Behaviour is understood as communication, and staff work creatively and collaboratively to help pupils feel safe, regulated and ready to learn.
You may already have experience working within SEMH or alternative provision. Or you may be an experienced HLTA with the patience, emotional intelligence and flexibility needed to thrive in this environment. What matters most is your commitment to understanding children, your resilience, and your belief that every child can succeed when they feel supported.
If you are looking for a role that is challenging, rewarding and genuinely life-changing, this could be the opportunity for you.
