Parker Smith Inclusion is looking for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist SEND setting in Great Baddow, supporting primary-aged pupils with additional needs.

This would suit someone who enjoys taking responsibility, leading learning activities and working closely with pupils to help them build confidence and make progress. You might already be an HLTA or an experienced Teaching Assistant ready to take the next step in your education career.

About the Role

You’ll work alongside teachers and the wider team to keep pupils engaged in learning, adapting your approach to suit their individual needs.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Leading lessons and learning activities when required.

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support.

• Covering lessons and taking responsibility for the class when needed.

• Adapting learning activities to meet pupils’ individual needs.

• Supporting pupils with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement.

• Encouraging communication, confidence and independence.

• Working with teachers and other professionals to provide consistent support.

You’ll need to be comfortable taking the lead when needed, while still being hands-on and building positive relationships with pupils.

Both qualified and unqualified candidates will be considered, provided they have the relevant experience for the role.

You’ll need to be reliable, adaptable and confident taking responsibility. Experience in SEND or specialist education would be beneficial, along with a patient approach and the ability to work well as part of a team.
