We are seeking an inspirational and dedicated Humanities SEMH Teacher to join specialist schools in Merton. 

This role is ideal for a teacher who thrives on supporting pupils with SEMH(Social, Emotional and Mental Health), Autism, trauma, and those who are disengaged with education.

About the Role

As a Humanities SEMH Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated Humanities lessons to small groups of pupils with a primary diagnosis of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), Autism, ADHD, trauma, and those who are disengaged with education

  • Plan and teach Humanities, tailored to each pupil’s individual learning plan

  • Focus on improving communication, reading, and writing confidence, helping students find enjoyment and success in Humanities

  • Work collaboratively with the school’s multidisciplinary team, including therapists and support staff, to ensure pupils’ social, emotional, and academic progress

  • Foster a safe, nurturing classroom environment where students can express themselves and develop a love of learning

Requirements

You will need:

  • QTS or QTLS, ideally with a specialism in Humanities

  • Proven experience teaching Humanities to pupils with SEMH(Social, Emotional and Mental Health), Autism, trauma, and those who are disengaged with education.

  • A Child and Adult Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

  • A creative, patient, and resilient approach to supporting vulnerable learners.
