Humanities Teacher – Geography & RE
Specialist SEND School – Autism, ADHD, SEMH
Location: Mole Valley, Surrey / West Sussex border
Full-time | Permanent | September 2025
£28,000 – £45,000 (based on experience and qualifications)
Are you a passionate Humanities Teacher ready to teach with purpose?
We are working with a well-established specialist school that caters to pupils aged 7–16 with Autism, ADHD, and associated social, emotional and communication needs. Every element of this school is designed to support children with neurodiverse profiles, from small class sizes (6–8 pupils) to integrated therapy to a rich, carefully adapted curriculum.
The school is seeking a Geography and Religious Education Teacher who can bring these subjects to life in a way that speaks to each learner, balancing academic rigour with emotional safety. If meaningful outcomes rather than rigid targets drive you, this is your kind of role.
Whether you’re a qualified teacher or an experienced unqualified educator with relevant subject and SEN experience, we’d love to hear your story.
What makes this role stand out?
- Curriculum autonomy: You’ll design Geography and RE lessons that make sense for your learners
- Truly small classes: 6 to 8 pupils per class, supported by a consistent team
- Integrated therapeutic approach: Daily collaboration with Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and mental health practitioners
- Incredible facilities: A calm, spacious site with forest access, a theatre, design technology spaces, and therapeutic learning zones
- A values-led team: You’ll join a school where staff culture is collaborative, reflective and driven by impact
Your day-to-day will include:
- Teaching Humanities across KS3 and KS4, tailoring content to individual profiles and prior gaps in learning
- Encouraging pupils to explore identity, belief, geography, and the broader world through creative and structured approaches
- Embedding therapeutic strategies into your teaching practice, with support from specialists
- Supporting pupils to gain qualifications while also helping them rediscover a love of learning
You’ll need:
- Strong subject knowledge in Geography and/or Religious Education
- Experience teaching in specialist settings or working with autistic/ADHD learners
- A warm, consistent presence in the classroom and a passion for relational teaching
- Flexibility, resilience, and a real understanding of trauma-informed approaches
Whether you’re from a mainstream or a specialist background, if you’re looking to teach Humanities in a setting that truly gets it, this could be the change you’ve been waiting for.
