Inclusion Mentor - Barnet

£95–£110 per day, depending on experience
Barnet, North London
Full-time | Long-term

I am recruiting an Inclusion Mentor for a full-time role in Barnet, supporting pupils who need additional help to remain engaged and successful within education.

This role is about understanding the pupil behind the behaviour.

Some young people struggle with attendance, relationships, emotional regulation or the demands of a classroom environment. The right mentor can provide structure, consistency and another route back into learning.

What will you be doing?

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Building positive professional relationships with pupils

  • Supporting pupils who struggle to remain engaged in lessons

  • Providing individual mentoring

  • Helping pupils regulate following difficult situations

  • Supporting reintegration into lessons

  • Encouraging positive routines and attendance

  • Helping pupils reflect on choices and behaviour

  • Working with teaching and pastoral colleagues

  • Maintaining appropriate boundaries and expectations

  • Recording relevant information and sharing concerns appropriately

Who am I looking for?

Essential:

  • Experience working with children or young people

  • Confidence building relationships while maintaining boundaries

  • A calm and emotionally resilient approach

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to remain consistent when pupils test boundaries

Desirable:

  • Previous mentoring experience

  • SEND or SEMH experience

  • Youth work experience

  • Pastoral or behaviour support experience

  • Experience working with pupils at risk of disengagement

Why consider this role?

For some pupils, having one reliable adult who does what they say they will do can make a considerable difference.

This role gives you the opportunity to support pupils beyond purely academic work and help them develop stronger relationships with school and education.
