Are you a resilient and passionate Science Teacher looking to make a genuine difference?
We are working with a specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Tower Hamlets that is seeking an enthusiastic and committed KS3 Science Teacher to join their dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people who have experienced barriers to learning and need a teacher who can inspire, motivate and build positive relationships.
This role is ideal for a teacher who believes that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of the challenges they may have faced.
The Role
As the KS3 Science Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons to Key Stage 3 students.
- Adapt lessons to meet a wide range of learning needs and abilities.
- Create a calm, structured and inclusive classroom environment where students can thrive.
- Build positive, professional relationships with pupils who may have experienced difficulties in mainstream education.
- Use positive behaviour management strategies to re-engage learners and support their academic and personal development.
- Work collaboratively with pastoral staff, therapists and senior leaders to provide consistent support for every student.
- Monitor progress, assess learning and contribute to individual learning plans.
About the Students
The pupils attending this PRU may present with:
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- ADHD.
- Low engagement with education.
- Challenging behaviour and difficulties with emotional regulation.
The successful teacher will understand that behaviour is a form of communication and will be confident using restorative and relationship-based approaches to support students.
What We're Looking For
To be considered, you will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
- A minimum of one year's teaching experience within a school setting.
- Experience supporting students with SEMH and challenging behaviour.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- The ability to build trust and establish positive relationships with young people.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A resilient, patient and compassionate approach to teaching.
