KS3 SEND HLTA | Outstanding Specialist SEND School | September Start

Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant or HLTA looking for your next opportunity within a specialist setting? Are you passionate about supporting young people with complex needs and confident in taking on additional responsibility? An outstanding specialist school is looking for a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join its supportive team from September.

The school supports KS3 children aged 11–14 with a range of complex needs, providing a highly personalised and nurturing learning environment. As a HLTA, you will play an important role in supporting pupils to access learning, develop their independence and build confidence, communication and life skills.

You will work closely with teachers and the wider SEND team to provide targeted support to pupils, helping them overcome barriers to learning and ensuring they receive the individualised support they need to thrive.

A key part of the role will be covering classes when required, so the successful candidate will need to be confident leading lessons and managing a classroom independently. You should be comfortable adapting activities to meet a range of complex needs while maintaining a calm, positive and engaging learning environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND professional who is ready to take the next step in their career. The school is committed to supporting staff development, and the right individual will be supported to work towards gaining their Level 4 Diploma, providing an excellent pathway for further professional development and progression within specialist education.

You will be joining a supportive and collaborative team of experienced education professionals. The school places a strong emphasis on building positive relationships with pupils and creating an environment where every young person is encouraged to develop their confidence, independence and potential.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children or young people with SEND and complex needs and will be confident supporting learning both within and outside the classroom. Experience of leading or covering classes would be highly beneficial, as the ability to take responsibility for a class is an important aspect of the HLTA role.

You will need to be patient, resilient, compassionate and confident, with excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to supporting young people with additional needs. Most importantly, you should be someone who is motivated to make a positive difference and keen to develop your career within specialist education.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking to progress into an HLTA position, or an existing HLTA looking for a rewarding role supporting pupils with complex needs.

If you are looking for a role where you can take on greater responsibility, develop your specialist skills and be supported to achieve a Level 4 qualification, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
