Lead Therapist (Speech & Language Therapist)
Specialist SEND School | North London | Permanent
£55,000 - £60,000
Some leadership roles involve managing a therapy team.
This one gives you the opportunity to shape the therapeutic culture of an entire school.
A specialist independent SEND school in North London is seeking an experienced Speech & Language Therapist to join its Senior Leadership Team as Lead Therapist. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced clinician who wants to influence how therapy is delivered across an entire school while continuing to make a meaningful difference to young people with complex SEND.
The School
The school supports young people aged 11-19 with Autism, SEMH, Speech, Language and Communication Needs and a range of additional learning needs. Students thrive within a small, nurturing environment where therapy and education work together rather than operating as separate services.
The Opportunity
This is far more than a clinical leadership role.
You'll lead a multidisciplinary therapy team including Occupational Therapists, Counsellors, ELSAs and Mentors, while developing a whole-school therapeutic approach that supports students both inside and outside the classroom.
Working as part of the Senior Leadership Team, you'll influence school strategy, oversee therapy provision, support EHCP outcomes, contribute to admissions, work closely with families and external professionals, and help embed relationship-first, trauma-informed practice throughout the school.
What Makes This Role Different?
This is a school where therapy sits at the heart of everything they do.
Rather than delivering therapy alongside education, you'll help ensure therapeutic strategies are embedded into everyday learning, working collaboratively with teachers and senior leaders to achieve the very best outcomes for students.
Salary & Benefits
- £55,000 - £60,000 depending on experience
- Permanent leadership position
- Senior Leadership Team role
- Ongoing CPD and leadership development
- Collaborative multidisciplinary environment
- Opportunity to shape therapy provision across the whole school
Who This Role Would Suit
This position would suit an experienced Speech & Language Therapist who has worked within specialist education or paediatric services and is ready to step into a strategic leadership role. You'll be passionate about integrated therapy, enjoy developing others and want to influence practice beyond your own caseload.
Leadership opportunities that allow you to shape an entire therapeutic service are rare. For the right therapist, this role offers the chance to leave a lasting impact on both the school and the young people it supports.
