Parker Smith Inclusion is currently working with a primary school in Basildon that is looking for a caring and motivated Learning Support Assistant to join their team.
The role would suit someone who gets their reward from seeing a child overcome a challenge, build their confidence or achieve something they previously thought they couldn't.
You'll become an important part of the classroom team, supporting pupils both academically and personally and helping create an environment where every child has the opportunity to succeed.
Your day-to-day
No two days will necessarily look the same.
You could be supporting an individual pupil with their learning one moment and helping a small group with an activity the next.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting children with classroom activities
- Working on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Helping pupils understand and complete their work
- Encouraging positive behaviour and attitudes towards learning
- Supporting children with their emotional and social development
- Helping pupils become more independent
- Providing additional encouragement to children who may lack confidence
- Working alongside teachers to meet individual needs
- Creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive classroom environment
- Recognising and celebrating pupil progress
What makes a great LSA?
We're not just looking for qualifications.
We're looking for someone who has the patience, personality and resilience to work with children and make a difference.
You might already be working as a Teaching Assistant or LSA, or you could have experience in childcare, care, sports, youth work or another role where you've supported young people.
You'll ideally be:
- Caring and approachable
- Patient and resilient
- Confident but not overbearing
- A good listener
- Positive and encouraging
- Consistent in your approach
- Able to work effectively with teachers and colleagues
- Comfortable adapting to different situations
- Passionate about supporting children
Experience of SEND is desirable, but the right attitude is just as important.
