Location: Basildon, Essex
Pay: £95–£110 per day PAYE
Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Contract: Long-term, temp-to-perm opportunity
Some children need a little extra support to find their confidence, overcome challenges and realise what they're capable of.
Sometimes, having the right person beside them can make all the difference.
Parker Smith Inclusion is working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Basildon that is looking for a caring, patient and motivated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join its team.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to make a genuine difference to children's education, helping them access learning, develop independence and feel confident in the classroom.
You'll work closely with teachers to provide individual and small-group support, adapting your approach to meet pupils' needs and helping create an environment where every child feels safe, included and ready to learn.
The Role
No two days will necessarily look the same. You could be helping a pupil work through a tricky task, supporting a small group with a classroom activity or offering encouragement to a child who needs a little extra reassurance.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Supporting pupils with classroom activities and learning tasks.
-
Providing 1:1 and small-group support.
-
Helping children understand instructions and engage with their learning.
-
Encouraging positive behaviour and attitudes towards education.
-
Supporting pupils' social, emotional and personal development.
-
Promoting independence, confidence and resilience.
-
Adapting your approach to meet individual learning needs.
-
Working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff.
-
Helping maintain a safe, welcoming and inclusive classroom.
-
Recognising and celebrating pupils' progress, no matter how small.
Who Would Suit This Role?
We're not just looking for qualifications or experience. We're looking for someone who genuinely cares about helping children succeed.
You might already work as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant, or you could have transferable experience from childcare, care, sports coaching, youth work or another role supporting children and young people.
Ideally, you'll be:
-
Patient, caring and approachable.
-
Calm and resilient when faced with challenges.
-
Positive, encouraging and confident in your approach.
-
A good listener who can build trusting relationships.
-
Adaptable and willing to learn.
-
A strong team player who works well with teachers and colleagues.
-
Passionate about helping children develop academically and personally.
Previous SEND experience would be beneficial, but a positive attitude, willingness to learn and genuine commitment to supporting children are equally important.
What's on Offer?
-
£95–£110 per day PAYE.
-
Working hours of 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday.
-
Long-term opportunity within a primary school.
-
Potential to progress into a permanent position.
-
Valuable experience within education and SEND.
-
The opportunity to develop your skills and confidence.
-
The chance to make a meaningful difference to children's lives every day.
